Who We Are
A Platform for Performance Art
James River Theatre Company, LLC was created to produce classical, contemporary, and reimagined Shakespearean shows for the City of Lynchburg and surrounding areas. Our goal is to encourage a love of the classics while both training up a new generation of artists and pushing boundaries within the theatre community.
Meet the Board
Co-President, Secretary, & Social Media Manager
Maggie Hendrix is a professional actress based in central Virginia who also works as the office file clerk at Jester & Jester. Maggie has an intense love for stories and is beyond excited to bring new stories to the stage. She has been all up and down the Blue Ridge Mountains performing for different theatre companies from Roanoke to Richmond! Maggie is classically trained in theatre and has a love for Shakespeare and the diversity that comes from the language and freedom in designing a concept. In her free time Maggie loves playing with her two puppies, watching and analyzing true crime documentaries with her husband Nathan, or devouring books & good food (but not at the same time!).
Co-President & Treasurer
Christina Crouch is a paralegal and settlement agent based out of Lynchburg, Virginia who loves helping clients navigate through real estate closings and managing the day-to-day needs of the Law Office of Jester & Jester. In her free time, however, Christina manages all things financial and legal in James River Theatre Company! Christina has served in almost all positions in theatre crew, including running crew, costumer, dramaturge, and stage manager, and enjoys using her attention to detail and analytical thinking to propel James River to the next level. When not balancing the books for Jester’s or James River, Christina can be found walking her puppy around historic Lynchburg or adventuring through the greater Blue Ridge area with her husband Christian.
Alexandra Mitchell is a theatre professional based in Central Virginia. She holds a BA in English from
Grove City College and an MA in Theatre Arts from Villanova University. She has worked as an
actor, director, singer, vocal coach, dramaturg, choreographer, and costume designer— and this
fall she will join James Madison University as an instructor of theatre. She has a passion for
creating work that is intellectually grounded and culturally engaged by delving into what is true,
beautiful, and human. As a director, Alexandra uses her training to approach a script from the
perspective of a visual artist, using the flair and color from collaboration with actors to craft a
clear portrait of story from start to finish. She fully believes that visual storytelling can make or
break a production and is excited to bring her experiences to the Lynchburg community. In her
free time, Alexandra can be found relaxing at home with her husband, Ethan—cooking or
collaborating on future projects.
